Teen Dynamo Signs 'Major Deal' with Sony
August 08, 2011
Now that the adults with the suits figured it out, Gabi Wilson can do what she does best: Sing and play four instruments.
After six months of negotiation, Sony's entertainment and recording division signed Vallejo's 14-year-old to a "major deal" that includes a debut CD release of original material this summer.
"It's the next chapter in her development as an artist," said Gabi's father, Kenny Wilson.
After many Bay Area-to-Hollywood trips, Gabi signed first with MBK Entertainment followed by a recording deal with J Records.
And that made MBK Entertainment founder Jeff Robinson a happy executive.
"We are so excited to have the incredible Gabi Wilson officially join the family," Robinson said in a release. "I believe that she is an absolute all-around and most-talented young artist. I look forward to helping her build a legendary career."
The young Wilson's credits include an appearance at the Apollo Theatre in Harlem when she was 9, and subsequent guest spots on The View, The Today Show, The Maury Povich Show and Good Morning America. She's also appeared in the films "School Gyrlz" and "School Gyrlz 2" with Nick Cannon. She's won the Barbie Award presented by Mattell and the White House Epic Award.
Gabi also appeared on stage with Alicia Keys at the Grammy Awards. Read More
