Young Star "Shakes It Up"

February 27, 2012

"Shake It Up" star Roshon Fegan came to the interview with his regular entourage: mom and dad. The young actor-singer-mogul in the making says his family keeps him grounded as his career starts to take off.

Apart from President Barack Obama, whom Fegan met during a White House visit last year, Fegan considers his parents his role models.

The 20-year-old performer -- who had a cameo in "Spider-Man 2" and was billed as "Amazed Kid" -- started performing at a young age.

"I think I started at, like, two hours of being alive," he jokes.

Like Bruno Mars, Fegan is half-Filipino -- his mom was born in the Philippines and he's very close to his maternal grandmother, who speaks to him in Tagalog sometimes.

"I'd like to see more of us out there. I'm just blessed to be a Filipino. I'm blessed to be representing on the (Disney) Channel and hopefully there will be more of us coming up soon." Read More
